FloorGen vs Cedreo

Cedreo is paid home design software for builders, remodelers and designers, built around photoreal renders and a sales workflow. FloorGen is a free browser floor plan editor with scaled drawings, walkthrough videos and DXF export, but no photoreal renders. Checked October 2026 against Cedreo's own pages.

We make FloorGen, and Cedreo is aimed at professionals who sell homes and remodels, so this is not a like-for-like contest. Cedreo's pricing page loads its price cards in the browser and showed us only its FAQ; the $129 a month Pro price below is the figure Cedreo states on its own comparison and FAQ pages. Its other plan prices are left out because we could not read them.

Cedreo's free account is for trying the product: one project, five renders with a watermark, personal use only. Cedreo says a free account lasts three years and is deleted if you do not move to a paid plan in that time. The Personal plan is a one-time purchase per project with 20 render credits; Pro adds unlimited projects and 40 renders a month without watermarks; Enterprise gives 80 renders per user a month and team collaboration.

Where Cedreo is the better choice

  • Photoreal renders for selling. Cloud renders in a few minutes, two at a time, plus AI style effects. FloorGen has no photoreal rendering.
  • A pro builder workflow. Automatic roofs with valleys and dormers, automatic elevations and sections with annotations, site plans and basic electrical plans, all from one model.
  • Branded presentation documents. Exports as branded PDFs for client proposals.
  • CAD in both directions. It imports DWG and DXF as an underlay and exports DXF. FloorGen exports DXF and imports it as editable walls, doors and windows rather than an underlay, but it does not read DWG.
  • A larger, more decorative library. Thousands of furniture, finish and material items, and over 2,400 doors and windows.
  • Teams. Enterprise accounts with licences and shared projects.

Where FloorGen is the better choice

  • Cost. FloorGen is free with no project cap (free exports may carry a small FloorGen badge). If you do not need photoreal renders, that is a large difference.
  • No account to start, and tablets and phones. FloorGen runs in any modern browser, including iPads, Android tablets and Chromebooks.
  • A walkthrough video file. MP4 at 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, up to 1440p, with captions, to text a client the evening after a meeting.
  • Finish quantities. Paint, flooring, tile and skirting quantities, door and window counts, and a budget you can copy as CSV.
  • Code checks for rooms, stairs and escape windows under IRC, NBC, OBC, UK, DIN or CDMX rules, as a design aid.
  • AI agents. An MCP server so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can draft and edit plans.

A small remodeler who mainly needs a scaled plan, a 3D walkthrough and material quantities may not need Cedreo; a builder whose sales depend on photoreal renders probably does. FloorGen for builders lists exactly what FloorGen leaves out.

Switching from Cedreo

FloorGen has no importer for Cedreo projects, but it reads the DXF Cedreo exports: you choose what each layer becomes, and the walls, doors and windows arrive as editable objects. Or move a plan across as a picture:

  1. Export each floor as a PDF or JPG from Cedreo with dimensions on. On the free plan, where plan downloads are not included, a screenshot of the 2D view works.
  2. Start a trace in FloorGen with the button above and pick the file; for a multi-page PDF, choose the floor's page.
  3. Set the scale from the longest overall dimension.
  4. Accept or draw the walls, then add doors, windows and furniture from FloorGen's library. Roofs are a simple gable, hip or flat roof over the top floor.
  5. Check room areas against the Cedreo plan.

Questions

How much does Cedreo cost?

Cedreo's comparison and FAQ pages state $129 a month per user, billed monthly, for Pro. The Personal plan is a one-time purchase per project, and Enterprise is for teams. Its pricing page did not show prices when we checked, so confirm with Cedreo.

Does Cedreo have a free plan?

Yes: one project and five watermarked renders for personal use. Cedreo says a free account is deleted after three years unless you upgrade.

Can FloorGen make photoreal renders like Cedreo?

No. FloorGen's 3D view and walkthrough videos are clean and to scale, but not photorealistic. If renders sell your homes, Cedreo is built for that.

Do both export to CAD?

Yes, both export DXF, and both import it: Cedreo as an underlay to draw over, FloorGen as editable walls, doors and windows. Cedreo also imports DWG; FloorGen does not.
