3D floor plan maker
Every plan you draw in FloorGen is already a 3D model: walls at their real height, doors and windows cut in, furniture in place. Orbit it, look down into it like a dollhouse, or walk through it, in the browser and free.

From plan to 3D in one key
- Draw or open a plan. Walls, doors, windows, stairs and furniture are all you need; there is no separate 3D modelling step. Starting from a template is the quickest way to see it.
- Press 3. The 3D view opens on the same plan. 2 takes you back, and ` cycles 2D, Split (plan and 3D side by side) and 3D. In Split, drag a wall on the plan and watch the room change in 3D.
- Pick a camera. Orbit turns round the house and zooms to the pointer. Dollhouse looks down into the rooms from above. Walk puts you inside at eye height: W A S D or the arrow keys to move, the mouse to look, Shift to run, Esc to stop. On a phone, a stick moves and a drag looks.
- Set the light and the roof. Lighting has Day, Evening and Night, and Sun and compass sets the time of day and month so the shadows fall the right way. The roof can be Flat, Gable or Hip, with pitch, overhang and a finish (shingles, clay tiles, slate, metal, membrane).
- See every floor. On a multi-storey house, Whole building shows them all stacked, and Explode floors spreads the storeys apart so you can look into each.

What you can take away
| Output | Where | Details |
|---|---|---|
| 3D image | Export → 3D image | PNG of the current camera at HD (1280 × 720), Full HD (1920 × 1080) or 4K (3840 × 2160) |
| Walkthrough video | The Walkthrough video button under the 3D toolbar | MP4 (WebM in Firefox), 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, up to 1440p, with room-name captions |
| 3D model | Export → CAD and 3D → glTF | A .glb file of every floor, in metres, for Blender, three.js and most 3D viewers |
| View-only page | Export → View-only page | One .html file with the plan and a 3D orbit view that anyone can open offline |
The walkthrough video maker covers the video options. Floor plan to 3D is the step-by-step guide, including exactly what the GLB file contains and how to open it in Blender.
Why 3D from a real plan is different
Some "3D floor plan" services are artists modelling a picture from your drawing, and some AI tools produce an image that only looks like a house. Here the 3D view is the plan itself: move a wall and the 3D changes with it, at the same dimensions. That makes it useful for checking, not only for showing: a stair that hits a beam, a window that lands behind a wardrobe, a kitchen you can see from the front door.
What the 3D view is not
- Not photoreal. It is a clean, lit model with colors and simple textures. There is no ray tracing, and no marketing-grade render.
- The glTF export is simpler than the view: flat colors, and furniture as boxes of the right size. It has no roof.
- Terrain is flat. Sloping sites, retaining walls and landscaping are not modelled.
Questions
How do I turn a 2D floor plan into 3D?
Draw or open it in FloorGen and press 3. The 3D model is built from the plan's walls, openings and furniture, so there is nothing else to do. If you only have a picture of the plan, trace it first.
Can I walk through the 3D floor plan?
Yes. Choose Walk in the 3D toolbar and move with W A S D or the arrow keys; on a phone or tablet, use the on-screen stick.
Can I export the 3D model?
Yes: Export → CAD and 3D → glTF saves a .glb file of every floor. You can also save a 4K image or record a walkthrough video.
Does it make photorealistic renders?
No. For photoreal images, export the glTF and render it in a tool such as Blender after adding materials and lights.
