Add https://floorgen.app/mcp to your AI app as an MCP server. claude.ai and ChatGPT sign you in to FloorGen; Claude Code, Cursor and most other apps send an API key. Set up your app in Agents & MCP has ready-to-paste text for each one.
claude.ai, Claude Desktop and the Claude apps
- Step 1: Add a custom connector
In claude.ai, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Step 2: Paste the URL
Name it FloorGen and paste
https://floorgen.app/mcpas the remote MCP server URL. - Step 3: Sign in and approve
Click Connect, sign in to FloorGen, pick the access level and click Approve.

Enable FloorGen from the tools menu. A connector added on claude.ai also shows in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps.
ChatGPT
- Step 5: Turn on developer mode
Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings → Developer mode. Write tools need it.
- Step 6: Create a connector
Name it FloorGen, use
https://floorgen.app/mcpas the MCP server URL and OAuth for authentication. - Step 7: Sign in
Sign in to FloorGen, pick the access level and click Approve. Then pick the connector in a chat and ask it to list your FloorGen projects.
Apps that use an API key
First make a key in Agents & MCP (see Agents and API keys). The tab for your app then shows the text with your key filled in. Most setups read the key from an environment variable, FLOORGEN_API_KEY, so set that first.
| App | Where | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Code | Run claude mcp add in a terminal | claude mcp list, or /mcp in a session |
| Claude Desktop | Settings → Developer → Edit Config, through mcp-remote (Node 18+); or add a custom connector and sign in | Restart it; FloorGen is in the tools menu |
| Cursor | ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json in a project | Cursor Settings → MCP shows a green dot |
| VS Code · Copilot | .vscode/mcp.json; VS Code asks for the key once | MCP: List Servers → floorgen → Start |
| Windsurf | ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json (uses serverUrl) | Refresh the MCP list in Cascade |
| Codex CLI | ~/.codex/config.toml, or codex mcp add | codex mcp list |
| Gemini CLI | ~/.gemini/settings.json (uses httpUrl) | /mcp in gemini |
| Cline | MCP Servers → Configure → cline_mcp_settings.json | The server turns green |
| Any other client | Streamable HTTP with the header Authorization: Bearer <key> | It lists tools such as list_projects |
Try it
Ask the app to list your FloorGen projects, then to describe one. With the project open in the editor, ask for a small change, such as adding a window, and watch it appear within about a second.
Questions
The app says it cannot find my project.
Agents see only projects synced to your account. Sign in, let the project sync, and check that the key covers that project.
Why does Claude ask before every change?
FloorGen marks every tool that can change or remove existing work, so Claude asks first. Tools that only read can run without asking.
How many tools does the app see?
By default the 44 core tools. Add ?toolsets=all to the URL for all 151, or send it in the X-FloorGen-Toolsets header from an app that uses an API key. See MCP tools and toolsets.
