FloorGen’s MCP server has 151 tools in seven toolsets, plus 12 prompts and 15 resources. An app sees the 44 core tools unless it asks for more. The full list, with what each tool does, is at floorgen.app/docs/mcp.
Toolsets
| Toolset | Tools | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
core | 44 | On by default. Reading the plan, projects (list, create, rename, duplicate, delete), floors and designs, walls, rooms, doors and windows, floor finishes, the catalogue and furniture, measuring, batches with apply_ops, the trash, the checks (validate_plan, audit_furniture, check_circulation), the 2D render and undo. |
more | 65 | Units and project settings, import and export of the project file, restoring a deleted project, moving, deleting and switching floors and designs, scenarios, moving and splitting walls, dividers and wall features, splitting, merging, deleting and changing rooms, flipping doors, curtains and blinds, wall finishes, placing on walls and on other items, zones, surfaces, balconies and railings, pinned measurements, notes, the north arrow, sections, duplicating, clearing a design, hiding layers and purging hidden things, emptying the trash, check_clearances, get_schedule, fixing geometry, labels, the roof, the 3D render, elevations, and comparing designs and projects. |
stairs | 8 | Stairs, stair spans and lifts, with their presets, and check_stairs. |
trace | 4 | A background image to trace over, its scale and its settings, and import_dxf for a DXF drawing. |
live | 6 | Your open editor tab: read and set the selection, read and set the view (2D or 3D, camera, lighting, plan style, floor and design), frame things on screen, and who_is_here to see who has the project open. An agent using these changes what your tab shows. |
macros | 15 | Whole layouts and rooms in one call: generate a layout, furnish a room, connect rooms, add a storey with a stair, auto dimensions, templates, variants, a room beside another, partition, resize or swap rooms, a stair core, and the kitchen, bathroom and living room generators. |
history | 9 | The change log and diffs, redo, restoring chosen things to an earlier state, checkpoints (create, list, restore), the activity feed, and post_note to leave a note in your Activity panel. |
To add toolsets, put them on the server URL: https://floorgen.app/mcp?toolsets=core,stairs,history, or ?toolsets=all for all 151. An app that connects with an API key can send the same list in the X-FloorGen-Toolsets header instead. A shorter list helps the model choose well, so add only what the job needs.
What each access level allows
An app only ever sees the tools its key or sign-in allows, whatever toolsets it asks for.
| Access | Tools it gets |
|---|---|
| Read only | Only tools that read. No edit tools, and none of the 6 live tools. |
| Read & edit | Reading, editing and the live tools. |
| Full (can delete) | Everything, including the 7 tools that need it: delete_project, delete_floor, delete_design, delete_room, clear_design, empty_trash and restore_checkpoint. Restoring a checkpoint needs Full access. |
Tools to know
get_contextsays what the server speaks and allows. Agents call it first.get_creditsreports your AI credits: the balance, when each lot expires, the next monthly grant and the price of a page read by Smart import. It only reads; when credits are not in use, it says so.describe_project,list_entitiesandfindread the plan.render_2dreturns a picture of the plan the agent can look at. With themoretoolset,render_3dandrender_elevationadd 3D and elevation pictures. On some plans these pictures carry a small FloorGen badge in a corner; the result says so, and the badge is not part of the plan.undoreverses a change;soft_deletemoves things to a trash thatrestore_trashbrings back.
Checking tools
| Tool | Toolset | What it checks |
|---|---|---|
validate_plan | core | The whole audit: every Review panel check, plus wall gaps, open wall ends, doubled walls, unnamed or doorless rooms, rooms with no window, rooms unreachable from the entrance, floors no stair reaches, stair landings, door swings, room layout and façade findings. At most 100 rows; problems you ignored in Review are counted apart. |
check_circulation | core | A clear path, 75 cm wide by default, from the main outside door to every room’s door. Each room is ok, narrow or blocked, with the furniture in the way. |
audit_furniture | core | Each piece of furniture: into a wall, tall in front of a window, in a door’s approach, off its wall, off the floor, overlapping, a WC or basin without 60 cm in front, a hob within 30 cm of a sink, a second wardrobe, double bed or WC in a room. |
check_clearances | more | Only the clearance part: door swings, door approaches and walkways under 75 cm. |
check_stairs | stairs | Each stair’s risers, treads, width, headroom, handrail height and ramp slope, with the info notes Review leaves out. |
get_schedule | more | Not a check: each room’s net and gross area, floor totals, the stair schedule and the door and window schedule. |
This is why an agent can report problems the Review panel doesn’t list. See Checks only FloorGen AI and agents run.
Prompts
Each prompt is a ready-made job written against the real tools. Pick one from your app’s prompt list. The same steps are in the floorgen://guide/playbooks resource.
| Prompt | What it does |
|---|---|
design_home | A whole home from a short brief: bedrooms, bathrooms, area, style and storeys. |
furnish_room | Furnishes one room with the generator for its type, in a copy of the design, and checks clearances. |
trace_plan | Traces an uploaded plan image into walls, rooms and openings at the right scale. |
review_plan | Reviews a plan and gives feedback by priority, without editing it. |
add_storey | Adds a floor above with a stair that connects both, and checks the stairs. |
explain_project | Explains the project in plain words for a client or a builder, without editing it. |
make_alternative | Tries a change in a separate design and compares it with the original. |
audit_and_fix_plan | Finds what is wrong and fixes it in small checked steps, or only reports. |
refresh_room | Builds 1 to 3 new layouts for a room, each in its own copy of the design, for you to pick. |
render_review_loop | Renders each floor, looks for what the checks miss, fixes it, up to three rounds. |
safe_destructive_edit | Removes or rebuilds part of a plan with a checkpoint and soft deletes first. |
compare_designs_report | Compares two designs of a floor with checks and pictures, and recommends one. |

Built-in safety
- Every edit can run as a dry run first, and an edit made on an out-of-date copy is refused.
- Permanent deletes, clearing a design, emptying the trash, restoring a checkpoint and replacing a floor with a copy first answer
CONFIRMATION_REQUIREDwith a token. The agent asks you, then repeats the call with the token. It works once, for 5 minutes. - An agent’s first edit of a task saves a checkpoint named “Before <agent> edits”. See Activity and revert.
- Each edit is logged as one change that shows in Activity and can be undone.
- Each key or connected app can make 300 calls and 60 edits a minute.
Questions
Can an agent export a PDF or DXF?
Not yet. Agents can render PNG pictures to look at. File exports are in the editor’s Export dialog.
Does ChatGPT see every tool?
ChatGPT takes only a URL, so it sees the core toolset unless you add ?toolsets= to that URL. Core has render_2d but not render_3d or render_elevation.
Why can’t my agent see my selection?
Add the live toolset to the URL, keep the project open in a tab, and connect with Read & edit or full access, by key or by sign-in. Read only gets no live tools.
Where is the full reference?
At floorgen.app/docs/mcp. It is made from the server’s own tool list, so it always matches.
