Accounts and cost

Is FloorGen free?

Yes. The editor, 3D, video, exports and code checks are free. Free exports may carry a small FloorGen badge; paid plans export without one. Some limits apply by default, such as 1,000 projects and 250 MB of storage per account. See Plans, limits and codes.

Do I need an account?

Not to start. Open the editor and draw; your projects save in this browser. Sign in free to export, sync across devices, share, and use FloorGen AI or agents. See What works without an account.

Drawing and files

Can I use metric and imperial units?

Yes. Pick feet and inches, to 1/16″, or metric, to 1 mm, and show areas in ft², m² or sq yd. See Language and units.

Can I draw a plan from an image or a PDF?

Yes. Put a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or PDF page under the plan, set the scale from a known length, and FloorGen suggests walls you accept or remove. Check each wall and draw over the image where it missed one. See Trace an image. Smart import goes further: it reads a PDF’s text for the scale and room names, and it reads DXF drawings. See Import a plan.

Can I export to PDF, DXF or CAD?

Yes: PDF print sets with a title block, PNG images up to 4,500 px, SVG, DXF (R12) with a layer per kind of object, glTF for 3D, and MP4 or WebM video. There is no DWG or IFC export. DXF files can be imported too: see Import a plan and Export formats.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. A bigger screen is easier for detailed drafting. See Phone and tablet.

Heights and levels

How do I make a floor taller?

Change Storey height in the floor’s Floor settings… (Floors panel, ⌥9), in the Project settings panel (⌥1) or in the plan summary. It runs floor to floor, slab included: 100 to 2000 cm, 280 cm by default. The floors above move up with it. See Heights and levels.

How do I make a wall taller?

Select the wall and change its Height on the card, or select several and set Height in All properties. A wall can’t be taller than its storey, so raise the Storey height first. Wall height in Settings… › Drawing sets the height of walls you draw next. See Heights and levels.

How do I raise the ceiling?

There is no separate ceiling field. Raise the floor’s Storey height, then raise the walls’ Height to match; raising the storey alone leaves the walls where they were. The clear height under the floor above is the storey height less the Slab thickness. See Heights and levels.

How do I lift an item off the floor?

Select it and set Elevation, the height of its base above the floor, on the card or in All properties: 0 to 1000 cm. Use it for wall cabinets, shelves and lights. See Heights and levels.

How do I change a window’s sill height?

Select the window and set Sill height, from the floor to the bottom of the window, on the card or in All properties. It can go up to the wall’s height less the window’s height. New windows take Window sill from Settings… › Drawing. See Heights and levels.

Checks, AI and agents

Which building codes does it check?

Pick a profile: IRC (US), NBC Canada 2020, OBC (Ontario), UK Approved Documents (England), DIN 18065 + MBO (Germany), CDMX Reglamento (Mexico City) or Generic. The checks are a design aid, not a permit approval, so confirm with your building department. See Code profiles.

Can AI edit my plan?

Yes, two ways. Sign in and ask FloorGen AI in the editor, or connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP app. Every change is listed and can be undone.

Can an AI app wreck a project?

Edits are checked before they are saved, everyday deletes go to a trash you can restore from, permanent deletes need a second confirmation, and a checkpoint is saved before big changes. Deleted projects can be restored for 30 days.
